I know... I've already displayed this in my journal, which was made for Lukiih's Quest for Improvement Project: [link] I just wanted to submit this, well, just so anyone can comment about it.

Marwan has changed quite a lot. Yes, believe it or not, he used to look like that, back in 1999. He was once first conceived as a mascot-type character for a comic I've tried drawing before (which was never fully completed and turned into a real comic, because I kinda ran out of ideas). I was still an anime-crazy child on that time... bleh. At that time, he doesn't even have a name yet, and I never heard of the concept of a person's persona yet. This coloured picture was really a retraced version, provided for convenience.

It wasn't until 2001 that I finally turned back to this critter. 2001 is also the year I found out, for the first time, about the furry fandom. (I stumbled onto Yerf! by accident, and that's where my furry art interests finally takes an official hold onto me.) I started drawing him more, even more than usual. I've truly gone more obsessed with him. I asked a friend of mine what name I should give to him. He suggested "Chibi Maru". That name sustained for quite sometime until when I got more active in this forum I used to participate before... There, I declared for the first time that "Chibi Maru" is my official persona (or "fursona", if you prefer to say that way). Marwan got a new name -- "Zanoma" -- based from my forum account name.

The following years, Marwan's body designs have changed drastically. I do admit that this change was partly influenced from seeing Chana's fursona. (Chana, a well-known Japanese artist running the Furry Tails website.) In fact, before that, this is actually a coincidence: Marwan's designs have already appeared similar to Chana's long before I even found out about the existence of that website. (Compare March 2003 from May 2003. Both are before and after seeing Chana's website, respectively.) 2004 is the year Marwan finally got an official name: "Marwan Green Critter". (It should be noted that "Zanoma" isn't really an official name for him at all. It's just merely a placeholder name because, at that time, I was still rather secretive about my real name.)

So yeah, notice that his ears have progressively grown longer, too. I do admit that this is partly an influence from Klonoa. I like floppy ears; that's why Marwan has those pair of large swingy things at the sides of his head. I also wanted to improve myself at drawing furs, so that's what I did: Draw more visible furs. And I've also changed his head-body size ratio (making his head smaller) because I realized that his head is somewhat rediculously too big.

All these have eventually turned him into what he is now. (Yes, so many versus there. )
